For every different region in Madagascar, there is a different musical style. This compilation attempts to show that diversity with the most upbeat, lively and energetic tracks that we could find after months of searching. This is the music that the people of Madagascar like, and we think you'll like it too.
The music is incredible and diverse, and so is the wildlife. Around 80% of the species that exist here can be found nowhere else on Earth. However, many of these species are now under threat, largely due to deforestation.
50% of proceeds from this album will go towards Treemad, a programme that aims to plant millions of trees and improve the lives of people and of the environment in the process. The charity behind it, Feedback Madagascar, has spent twenty years working with and listening to some of the most isolated communities in Madagascar to find solutions to the short and the long-term threats to their livelihoods, and the threats to the plants and animals.
Treemad helps with immediate issues like malnutrition, death in childbirth and disease, at the same time as building a sustainable future through education, irrigation, cottage industries and conservation. Every new development and activity within each community now also includes the construction of tree nurseries, agroforestry training and forest protection, which will go on to benefit the communities for decades to come.
